American Standard 1936

American Standard Double Bass, (42 3/4 " string length) - $5,000

Like Kay plywood double basses the American Standard has a strong following. These basses produce a big, dark sound. The H.N. White Company started making these at their Cleveland Musical Instrument Company facility in 1936. This particular bass is in near mint condition. There are very few marks and wear spots. The neck is solid and the fingerboard is clean. The serial number is difficult to decipher. The number may be #56. The 5 is scratched over with what might be a 6 making it #66 or the 5 was mistake and scratched out making it #6 (one of the earliest Standards I've heard of). Regardless, all of these numbers place it in the first year of production. It comes with a Mooradian Deluxe bag.
