Thomas Martin Basses

I am proud to be a US agent for Thomas Martin basses. Mr. Martin makes basses that not only look beautiful but are responsive and have that large, old world sound that we all look for. I will be importing a number of Martin instruments each year and will post pictures of each bass I receive so check back often. A bass can also be made to order with your specifications in mind. Mr. Martin makes 5 different models. Options include round back, flat back, 4 string, 5 string or C-extension.

Mr. Martin also provides me with some very fine basses made to his specifications in Central Europe. Mr. Martin imports the best of these instruments that are still “in the raw”, installs and dresses the fingerboard, bridge, tuners, tailpiece, raised saddle, endpin and finishes up with a marvelous sounding instrument. These are modestly priced basses that are perfect for the advanced student or as a second bass for the professional.

Martin "Shop" Bass

A full size bass (41.5" string length) with carved back and ribs of flamed maple, fitted with a fingered C extension.

This is a so called "Shop" bass. The parts were roughed out by craftsmen in eastern Europe. The Martins completed the graduation of the plates and assembled the instrument. It is essentially their full size 4/4 bass modeled after those of Vincenzo Panormo. This particular shop bass is no longer being made. This instrument has the typical Martin house sound - big with a lot of punch. Here's an opportunity to get that sound at half the price.

This is one of the finest Martins I've seen or heard. It has that big low A typical of Panormos (but with a user friendly slightly smaller size) and a thunderous low C.
