Barnabás Rácz 2009

Forster Model - $23,000

Barnabás Rácz is one of Europe's premier luthiers and as a bassist he especially knows how to make a bass. His workmanship is impeccable and the sound of his basses are open and clear with a lot of depth in the low end but still with great projection. This bass was chosen and played by the winner of the solo competition for the 2007 ISB Convention, Gunars Upatnieks, for the opening recital of the 2009 Convention at Penn State. You can hear and see Gunars play this bass on YouTube.

Testore Model - $19,000 (sold)

A great bass with a big sound. This was the first of this model that Mr. Rácz made and it's a winner. For this instrument he used reclaimed wood that is 100-130 years old. It made quite an impression among the people who tried it at the ISB Convention at Penn State this past June.
